Reviews:

We were reviewed in Slug 'n' Lettuce. Slug 'n' Lettuce liked the album:

SAIGON DISTRESS SIGNAL - DARKNESS LP When I hear someone say "Toronto's version of Trag-core", well I'm all ears, cause unlike some who've gotten irritated with constant comparisons or copy style, I for one can not get enough of the dark punk or the apocalyptic punk, or the "trag-core". This starts out awesomely, with a dark heavy essence, an eerie weaving guitar, and a double bass drum, all in a slowish swooing tempo. A perfect introduction for my ears. And to be fair to the band, I don't think this really sounds all that like Tragedy. What they do sound like is a combination of the influences of various Swedish d-beat bands with the modern concoction of heaviness, pummeling beats and weaving guitars. And I for one absolutely LOVE this!! There is even a tree on the cover. (-Chris) *****

We were also reviewed in Maximum Rock 'n' Roll. Presumably they did not like the album. The words "convoluted" and "false metal" were used. Convoluted, maybe. False metal, never.

the foundation stone

Welcome to the Saigon Distress Signal web log.

Why?

Our website is terrible. It will no longer exist.

This will be a source for gig dates, tour dates, release information and various other stuff.

These past three months have been slow, at least externally. We have played no shows at all since tour ended at the beginning of September.

Internally, some major stuff happened. Chris moved to Montreal so we tried out a few bassists. Matteo of Black Spokes and Concrete Tank is now a permenant member of the band.

In our time off on tour, Doug, Pat and myself recorded the song "Fortress of Ravens" which has been released on the "Killed By Canada" Comp. This is a pretty amazing release featuring 50 of the best hardcore and punk bands from across Canada. We are thrilled to be part of it.

We were to play a show this Sunday at the Smiling Buddha put on by the internet metalzine No Official Capacity but that show has now been postponed.
